On January 10 at 7.30 pm at the “Ámbito Cultural de El Corte Inglés”, Alicante (Federico Soto street, number 1), the exhibition “Students of the World against Nuclear Tests” was inaugurated. It is the result of the collaboration between the foundation Peace and Cooperation and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban- Treaty Organization of the United Nations (CTBTO), which has the support of the Permanent Representation of Spain before the International Organizations in Vienna.

There have been 70 works from 10 countries participating in the world school art contest that show the commitment of students to the complete abolition of nuclear tests and that aims to raise public awareness about this vital issue for security and peace of our planet.

The Honorary Consul of Greece in the“Comunidad Valenciana”, Mr. Manuel Serrano, was glad to see a great Cypriot work exposed and recalled that last year, in the company of the Ambassador of Cyprus, H.E. Ms. Koula Sophianou.

The Councilor for Culture, Mr. Antonio Manresa, highlighted the commitment to Peace and Cooperation for the purposes of the United Nations and recalled that he had been inaugurating this art show in the service of peace for five years, of which this year is of great importance in the light of the hostilities of the Persian Gulf.

He welcomed the work done by CTBTO and Peace and Cooperation by organizing school events that enliven the interest of youth for a safe and peaceful planet.

For the seventh consecutive year, this exhibition of Peace and Cooperation is part of the calendar of activities of the “Ámbito Cultural de El Corte Inglés” de Alicante and, of course, it is also a date of meetings with friends from Alicante, this beautiful tourist city and capital of a flourishing activity of the leather and shoe industry and which has in the new Exhibition Hall of the “Ámbito Cultural de El Corte Inglés” a remarkable center of literary acts and artistic works.
